Data from STR shows Africa's hotel pipeline is currently under development, with 301 projects with 57,011 guest rooms. Finally, the Marriott International Group plans to build the first hotel in Africa with a total capacity of 1,000 rooms and the world's largest hotel complex with 2,500 rooms.
African economies are growing at 5-6% per year, from Mauritius to Botswana, Ghana, and Uganda. As part of its expansion into Africa, Marriott International has signed an agreement to open seven new hotels with a total capacity of 1,000 rooms and a 2,500 room hotel complex in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. With activities in 122 countries and territories, including 14 African countries, it has more than 6,000 hotels worldwide.
The company is expected to support the expansion of its rebranding of the Hilton brand in Africa by opening two new hotels in Ghana and Kenya. Hyatt is also expanding its current portfolio in Morocco and Tanzania, while the group is debuting brands in Algeria, Cameroon, Ethiopia and Senegal. Marriott is looking forward to a presence in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda as well as Uganda.
